Thank you to volunteers at the Tesco Christmas Collections

For three days this year, November 28 to 30, our volunteers worked incredibly hard encouraging Tesco shoppers to donate to the food bank if they could, and packing the many crates of donations we received. There were collections in five Tesco supermarkets – Brixton, Streatham, Clapham, Thornton Heath and Purley. Thank you so much to everyone who volunteered.

Thank you too to Tesco who give money to the food bank based on how much has been donated, as well as Tesco Mobile SIM cards and data for our clients, to help them stay connected to their loved ones and access vital support services.

All the food collected in the Tesco National Christmas Collection from 28th to 30th November has now been weighed and logged and the results are absolutely amazing:

Brixton: 2,451.4kg Clapham: 1,644.6kg Kennington: 854.6kg Purley: 1,225.6kg Streatham: 2,183.2kg Thornton Heath: 2,254.8kg

Total: 10,614.2kg

A huge, huge thank you to all the volunteers that made this event such a success. This is a great boost to our Christmas pack and all your hard work is really appreciated.
