How to get help
Please note: If you are in financial crisis and live in England or Wales, please call 0808 208 2138 for free (open Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm) to talk confidentially with a trained Citizens Advice adviser. They can help address your crises and provide support to maximise your income, help you navigate the benefits system, and identify any additional grants you could be entitled to. If needed, they’ll issue you with a voucher so you can get an emergency food parcel from your local food bank.
For local support: Please call 020 8670 0070 to speak to Centre 70 who can provide a range of advice around benefits, debt, money management and housing plus much more. Email is Centre 70’s preferred way of getting in touch, so please email if you can: [email protected]. You can also visit their centre in West Norwood.
Brixton Advice Centre Call 0207 733 7554 between 10am and 3pm, Monday to Thursday. You can make a self referral online – brixtonadvice.org.uk/advice-form-2/. They also run a limited drop in service at their location in Railton Road.
Oasis Waterloo provide a range of advice, help and support including some immigration help. www.oasiswaterloo.org/advice, or email [email protected].
Other support in Lambeth includes Age UK Lambeth, Carers Hub Lambeth, Citzens Advice Lambeth and Merton, Lambeth Better Start.
And there’s also Citizens Advice Croydon.
In addition we work with a number of referral agencies. You may already be part of their network and they can support you with food vouchers in a crisis. They include some but not all schools, GP practices, social work teams, housing associations, a variety of NHS teams and more.
A number of online resources can help like Turn to Us, and National Energy Action.
